One of the many signs of the Holy Spirit's presence within the Church is the comfort
that he provides to his people by raising up holy men and women in every age.
Through their presence and that of their spiritual families, God strengthens our faith
and challenges us to continue on the journey. One of these holy men was Father
Michael J. McGivney, now Venerable. Fr. McGivney gave us the Knights of Columbus.
Father's love for the Christian family lives on through his spiritual family. Love proves
itself through works based on faith in revealed truths. Father knew this and his sons
inherited this great truth from him: Christ came so that we may have life and have it
in abundance.

The Knights of Columbus at the St. Mark Council at Southwest Ranches, led by Grand
Knight Michael Lynch, have represented their spiritual father with distinction. This
year, they are the recipients of the Evangelium Vitae Award, Division II for their
service on behalf of the Christian family and the preborn child. They have made
Father's spirit felt in our community through a series of events and activities that
benefit pro-life ministry in our Archdiocese. These have included the following:

- Education meetings for the Knights on the life issues of our day
- Fund raising to benefit the Archdiocesan Office of Respect Life
- Confecting layettes for pregnant mothers and their preborn children
- Supporting Hope Women's Center
- Voter education on life issues
- Divine Mercy prayer vigils for Life
- Knight of Columbus Day of the Unborn Child Rosary

The staff and volunteers at Respect Life are proud and grateful to the Knights of
Columbus. On this occasion, we want to single out the ministry of St. Mark Council.
These Knights have proven to be faithful sons of their spiritual father through their
work in support of the Gospel of Life. May God grant you many blessings here and in
eternity.
